Mark Hunter to stand in Cheadle Hulme South

by Lib Dem Team on 18 February, 2016

Mark_Hunter (1)Former Cheadle MP Mark Hunter is standing for election to Stockport Council in May’s local elections.

Mark Hunter has been selected to fight the Cheadle Hulme South ward following the death of Councillor Lenny Grice.

Mark, who was MP for Cheadle from 2005 to 2015, served as a Stockport councillor and Leader of the Council before being elected to Parliament.

“For ten years I had the privilege of representing the people of Cheadle Hulme in Parliament. At a time when the Conservative government is cutting funding to local councils as never before, the need to have elected representatives who will fight for local people is greater than ever. I believe I have the experience, energy and passion to deliver for Cheadle Hulme on the Council.” Mark said.

If elected in May, Mark Hunter will join Lib Dem councillors Suzanne Wyatt and Stuart Bodsworth on Stockport Council.
