Death of Councillor Lenny Grice

We are very sad to have to inform you that Councillor Lenny Grice passed away last Sunday (17 January 2016).

Councillor Grice (aged 63) was a Liberal Democrat councillor representing the Cheadle Hulme South ward on Stockport Council.

The Leader of Stockport Council, Councillor Sue Derbyshire, said: “I am deeply sorry to hear about the death of Councillor Grice. He was passionate about finding ways to improve lives in his community, full of ideas about how things could be done differently and always looking ahead. His death will be a huge loss to his many friends and colleagues in the Council and his community. He will be greatly missed and remembered with respect. Our hearts go out to Lenny’s family and friends at this very sad time.”

Councillor Grice was first elected as a member of Stockport Council in May 2008, representing the Cheadle Hulme South Ward and has served on a number of committees and outside bodies including as Chair of the Planning and Highways Regulation Committee since May 2009.

    So sorry to hear the news about Lenny.
    He and I canvassed together in Bramhall, Stockport, often in the run up to the Election. He was very interested in Planning and it was fitting that he ended up Chairing those meetings until he died. I think he may be a hard act to follow.
